Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has outlined a clear vision for trade as the cornerstone of her leadership, emphasising its inclusivity, innovation, and investment potential.
Speaking at the Commonwealth Trade & Investment Summit 2025, held at Mansion House in London on April 7, 2025, Ayorkor Botchwey detailed her agenda to redefine trade and investment within the 56-member bloc. "Trade must be inclusive, innovative, and investable," she declared, elaborating on her three-pronged approach.
She stressed the importance of inclusivity, ensuring that all Commonwealth nations-especially small states, landlocked countries, and underrepresented businesses-benefit from the organization's 2.7 billion-strong market.
This approach seeks to enable meaningful participation in global markets.
