Security analyst, Professor Kwesi Aning has called for swift and practical parliamentary action to address the growing concerns surrounding alleged drug trafficking incidents in Ghana, describing the issue as a "national concern" that requires more than press conferences and political rhetoric.
His comments come in the wake of a Presser scheduled by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) at its headquarters on Monday, April 7, to address the increasing public outcry over suspected cocaine smuggling activities.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Professor Aning emphasised the urgent need for institutional mechanisms to be activated within Parliament to investigate the matter thoroughly.
He proposed the formation of a special parliamentary subcommittee with investigative powers to examine flight records and summon key stakeholders operating at the country's airports.
