Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has alleged that President has reversed the appointments of high-ranking Ashanti military officers, from lieutenant colonels to colonels, to United Nations mission operations.
According to the Assin South MP, these appointments, which had been arranged several months ago, have been blocked by the president, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In an interview on Voice of London Radio with Mensa Musa on April 4, 2025, Ntim Fordjour asserted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC)-led administration has started on the wrong foot.
He claimed that the government is engaging in tribalistic governance. "They are using politics to dismiss people left, right, and centre; as I speak to you, call anyone in the Ghana Armed Forces and ask them how is it that Ashanti high-ranking military officers, from lieutenant colonels to colonels, who had been promoted and appointed to UN missions, suddenly had their appointments reversed. "These arrangements were made three to four months ago, and now this government has rescinded all such appointments for Ashantis while leaving appointments for officers from other tribes intact," he said.
