The government is poised to address the new trade challenge posed by the United States' imposition of universal tariffs on imports.

Announced on April 2, 2025, these tariffs include a 10% rate on goods entering the US from all countries, effective April 5.

However, products already in transit as of the announcement are excluded from the levies.

Further measures, including reciprocal tariffs ranging from 11% to 50%, will go into effect on April 9.
