Security consultant Richard Kumadoe has addressed the controversy surrounding the removal of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) containers from the Tema Port, stating that the containers were taken out under legitimate orders, albeit with procedural breaches. "Somebody legitimately ordered those containers to come out," Kumadoe explained on Channel One TV's The Big Issue on Saturday April 5.

He dismissed claims that the port's security is weak, emphasising that the process of removing containers cannot happen casually or without authorissation. "When I hear some of my brothers and sisters in the media saying the port security is weak and that is why people could go there and carry containers-containers are not football or phones to put in your pocket," he remarked.

Kumadoe pointed to a systemic issue where established rules and processes are often disregarded. "There are standard procedures, and because we have the penchant of flouting our own rules and processes of doing things right in this country, that is exactly what they have done," he noted.

Drawing on intelligence sources, Kumadoe revealed that someone with knowledge of port operations breached the rules, facilitating the removal of the containers. "From what I have seen so far from the port and from sources within the intelligence, somebody breached the rules and that is why they moved the containers out," he stated.
