President has praised Ghana's first President, the late Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, for constructing the Accra-Tema Motorway. Akufo-Addo said that the motorway, which was constructed in 1965, has been a vital part of Ghana's transport sector for over six decades. The president, who made these remarks after cutting the sod for the commencement of work on the reconstruction of the Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project, indicated that the expansion of the motorway is a continuation of the legacy of Ghana's first president. "This project marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to modernise Ghana's infrastructure and ensure that our nation remains competitive in the 21st century. Originally commissioned in 1965 by our first President, Kwame Nkrumah, the Accra-Tema Motorway has been a vital artery for nearly six decades, carrying an average of 45,000 vehicles daily. "Now, the time has come to renew this legacy and ensure it continues to serve the people of Ghana for generations to come," Akufo-Addo wrote in a post shared on Facebook on August 27, 2024.
