The Ashanti Regional Command of the has disclosed that a 16-year-old student of Adventist Senior High School (ADASS) brought his father's pistol to campus, leading to an accidental shooting that injured his classmate on April 4, 2025.
According to the police report, the student brought his father's loaded pistol to school to showcase it to his classmates.
While the group was examining the weapon, it accidentally discharged, striking one of the students and causing injuries.
In a statement released on April 5, 2025, the police indicated that the injured student is currently receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). "Preliminary investigations reveal that a 16-year-old second-year student (name withheld) brought a locally manufactured pistol loaded with one BB round to school.
