Police in the Ashanti Region have launched an investigation into the shooting incident at the Adventist Senior High School.
A statement issued by the Police said the suspect had confessed to having taken the gun on the blind side of the father.
Efforts are currently underway to locate the father of the suspect to arrest him.
Meanwhile, the student who was hit when the gun was discharged has been treated and is currently at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
