Ahmed Ibrahim, the Member of Parliament for the Banda Constituency in the Bono Region, has stated that he would build a national cathedral for the state if he had the financial means.
The MP, who also serves as the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, expressed regret over how the previous government's National Cathedral project was heavily criticised, to the extent that its potential benefits were overlooked.
Speaking in an interview on Adom TV on April 2, 2025, the MP emphasized his personal support for religious institutions, saying that he has always assisted churches in his constituency. "You see, the National Cathedral, we demonized it to the point that even if something good was to come out of it, you couldn't say it," he remarked.
He admitted that the project had a problematic start, but urged the public to be patient and await the outcome of an ongoing audit. "The start was also problematic.
