Channel One News investigations has revealed that heaps of sand, intended to fill a Ramsar site at Mallam Junction, remain uncleared despite a directive from President John Dramani Mahama to immediately stop efforts to fill waterways in flood-prone areas.

Traditional authorities have voiced their frustration over unsuccessful attempts to halt development on these waterways, putting the area at risk for floods.

As the rainy season approaches, the government has been implementing measures to mitigate flooding in flood-prone areas.

In light of this, President John Dramani Mahama visited some flood-prone areas on Wednesday, April 2, to assess the situation.
