Ghanaian legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was scared of facing John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 elections.
Ampaw, speaking on his Wontumi TV show, revealed that prior to the NDC primaries in 2023, the NPP attempted to sabotage his attempt to be elected the flagbearer of the NDC for the third consecutive term.
The NPP calculated that as a former President, Mahama would be a formidable candidate and therefore attempted to ensure he would not win the NDC flagbearership race.
Ampaw said the NPP commenced a public relations strategy to downplay Mahama's strengths as a candidate and hype up his opponents, particularly the former Bank of Ghana Governor and Finance Minister, Dr Kwabena Duffuor.
