The District Court in Enchi, Western North Region, has declared its earlier ruling on illegal mining equipment null and void, citing a lack of jurisdiction over galamsey-related cases.
This reversal, announced on April 2, 2025, underscores the court's commitment to ensuring that its actions align with Ghana's mining laws.
Presided over by His Worship Lawrence Buenor Buer, the case involved six individuals accused of illegal mining activities within the Boin Forest Reserve.
The court had previously ordered the release of two Liugong excavators and other equipment to the owners for relocation.
