President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Asddo has stated that originally commissioned in 1965 by Ghana's first President, Kwame Nkrumah, the Accra-Tema Motorway has been a vital artery for nearly six decades, carrying an average of 45,000 vehicles daily. Now, the time has come to renew this legacy, and ensure it continues to serve the people of Ghana for generations to come, he said. On Monday, 26th August 2024, Mr Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the commencement of work for the reconstruction of the Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project. He said that the Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to modernize Ghana's infrastructure and ensure that our nation remains competitive in the 21st century. The Accra-Tema Motorway Expansion Project is a pioneering initiative, being the first Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the history of Ghana's road infrastructure.
"By bringing together the expertise and resources of both the public and private sectors, with the strategic backing of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), we are setting a new standard for infrastructure development in our country.
