The former Greater Accra Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker, is advocating for the ban on mining in Ghana for the next three years.
He is of the view that if mining is banned, it will help reclaim the lands and restore the country's water bodies that have been destroyed.
Speaking on Accra-based Channel 1 Television, he explained that the country gains peanuts from the Gold Trade and therefore, it will be imperative that the country focuses on making their water bodies better. "Galamsey should be banned; small-scale mining should be suspended.
The big companies should be set aside for the next three to four years to reclaim our land.
