The Gyasehene of Sabronum, Nana Gyau Baffour Atuonin and two other chiefs have been destooled by Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for aiding and engaging in illegal mining activities.
Agitated youth of Sabronum brought a petition before the Asanteman Traditional Council and accused the chiefs of aiding and indulging in illegal mining activities in the area that has led to the destruction of water bodies and farms.
All three chiefs; Gyasehene of Sabronum, Nana Gyau Baffour Atuonin, Akyeameahene, Nana Osei Kwadwo and Baamuhene, Nana Tabiri Gyansah were summoned to the Manhyia Palace on Monday, August 26 following the petition.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II had tasked the National Bureau of Investigation to probe the chiefs and laid the report before the accused and subsequently ruled stripping them of their titles.
A caretaker was selected to oversee the affairs of Sabronum The Asantehene is cracking the whip on his chiefs after his repeated warnings against traditional rulers within the Asante Kingdom for aiding or engaging in illegal mining activities.
