Some (NPP) supporters have reportedly reacted with anger following controversial remarks made by former Assin Central MP, , about the former Vice President of Ghana and 2024 NPP Flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Agyapong, who recently met with a group of lawyers in Kumasi to declare his intention to run for the NPP's flagbearer position again, claimed that Ghanaians rejected Dr Bawumia at the December 7, 2024, elections due to his Muslim faith and ethnic background.

His comments, however, have ignited a fierce backlash from some party members, with many taking to social media to condemn what they describe as divisive and inflammatory rhetoric.

According to a report by onuaonline.com, several NPP supporters have accused Agyapong of undermining party unity, especially as the party seeks to regroup ahead of the 2028 Election.
