Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu has urged school management across the country to allow students to freely practice their religious faith without restrictions. "Every Ghanaian child is entitled to the full benefit of the rights and freedoms guaranteed under the constitution, so is the child and school," he stated.

The minister made this call while joining the Ambariyya Muslim sect in Tamale for Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.

His remarks come in the wake of concerns raised by the Ghana Muslim Students Association of Ghana.

In a press statement on Saturday, March 30, the association expressed disappointment over Saint Roses Senior High School in Akwatia, Eastern Region, for denying Muslim students permission to go home for Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, despite a directive from the Ghana Education Service.
