The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor has vowed to ensure that the management and head of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under whose watch over 1300 containers belonging to the company got stolen at the Tema Port are held accountable.
Operatives of the National Security have arrested eight Chinese nationals and a Ghanaian in connection with the disappearance of the containers.
The arrests come after cables believed to be part of the missing consignment were traced to an aluminum smelter owned by the Chinese at Shai Hills.
The latest crackdown follows an ongoing investigation into the missing ECG containers scandal, where over 1,300 containers filled with cables and essential electrical equipment were reported unaccounted for.
