Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticized the tax reforms introduced by the Mahama administration, describing them as politically motivated and ineffective in providing real relief to Ghanaians.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on March 26, 2025, he argued that the reforms are designed to appear beneficial while, in reality, imposing an even greater burden on businesses and individuals. "The NDC government's tax reforms are purely political, giving with one hand while taking even more with the other, providing no real relief to the private sector or the ordinary Ghanaian," he said.
Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has described the 2025 budget as a people-centred document designed to address the pressing concerns of Ghanaians.
Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, 25 March, during the conclusion of discussions on the Budget Statement, Dr Forson assured that the government is committed to ensuring its successful implementation. "This budget reflects our determination to put the people first, and we will ensure its successful execution for the benefit of all Ghanaians," he stated.
