The Minister of Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has present­ed assorted food items to the Ghana Prisons Service to support inmates feeding for the Ramadan season at the Prisons Headquarters.

The items include 1,000 bags of rice, 417 boxes of Sunflower cooking oil, and 200 boxes of Tasty Tom tomato paste.

The gesture forms part of the Minister's efforts to support and equip the Ghana Prisons Service and make it efficient.

Presenting the items at the Prisons Headquarters in Accra, the Interior minister said: "I reached out to Mr Ibrahim Mahama, a global businessman and philanthropist, to support prison inmates during this Ramadan period and my request was granted, hence the donation of these items." The Director General of Prisons, Mrs Patience Baf­foe-Bonnie, in her remarks, acknowledged the minster's will­ingness and undoubtful quest to support the Prisons Service and expressed gratitude for the opportunity given her to serve as the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service.
