President John Dramani Mahama has stated clearly that corruption, misconduct, and abuse of power must be eradicated from Ghana's military.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the Armed Forces Council, President Mahama emphasised that the true strength of a military force is not determined by its weapons or size but by the ethical leadership, discipline, and professionalism of its personnel. "The strength of the military is built on the foundation of integrity, discipline, and ethical leadership," he stated.
He further explained that a military's effectiveness is defined by the character, morale, and professionalism of its personnel, rather than the sheer size of its force or its weaponry.
The President also took the opportunity to remind the newly appointed members of the Armed Forces Council and the wider military community that Ghana's military has long been respected, both nationally and internationally, for its discipline and professionalism. "Ghana has long prided itself on having one of the most disciplined and respected military forces in the world, and we must never take this for granted," he said, urging the council to continue upholding these values.
