The Paramount Queen Mother of the Denkyira Traditional Area, Nana Ama Saara III, has advocated for a constitutional review aimed at establishing a national and regional House of Queens.
Speaking at the 7th Annual Queen Mothers Workshop organized by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Ghana Office, in collaboration with the National Queen Mothers Ghana in the Western Region, on the theme "Combating Disinformation and Misinformation: The Role of Queen Mothers in Ensuring Good Governance," she emphasized the importance of such a chamber in the development of women and children in the country. "We need a chamber of Queens where issues of women and children can be well addressed.
We have already taken steps towards that in the previous administration.
We have been to the National House of Chiefs, and we are currently at the regional level, where we are holding various consultations about it so that there can be changes in the Chieftaincy Act and the 1992 constitution," she said.
