A retired Court of Appeal judge, Isaac Duose, has shared valuable insights into the defamation suit between investigative journalist and the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, .
Speaking on whether there was a mistrial in the defamation case, in which the Essex County Court awarded $18 million in damages to against , Duose stated that claims suggesting the case was a mistrial were inaccurate.
According to him, if any errors had occurred that would have resulted in a mistrial, the judge presiding over the case would have explicitly mentioned it.
Duose added that there would have been no reason for the judge to wait or delay if there had truly been grounds for declaring a mistrial. "If the jury made any significant error which would lead to a mistrial, the judge would have said it immediately.
