The Ministry of Defence is grappling with a mounting financial crisis as food suppliers threaten to halt services to the Ghana Armed Forces(GAF) over an unpaid debt of GHC 275 million.

The arrears, which have accumulated over the past 17 months, have left suppliers frustrated, raising concerns about the potential impact on the military's food supply chain.

The financial burden extends beyond food supply, with the Ministry's total debt standing at GHC 3.7 billion, covering critical expenses such as equipment supply, machinery provision, and repairs.
