The has granted police inquiry bail to William Yirenkyi, the founder and leader of the Alliance for the Restoration of Civil Rights, after nearly 24 hours in detention over an alleged threat to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Yirenkyi was arrested on March 18, 2025, after being invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to respond to a complaint allegedly lodged against him.
He was released from the Nima Police Station on March 19, 2025, at approximately 6:00 PM.
Speaking after his release, Yirenkyi disclosed that he was required to apologise to the IGP for a harmful post he allegedly made on social media. "They said I should apologise to the IGP for a statement I made on my Facebook page, which was deemed harmful.
