The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has issued an urgent recall of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte (Tetra Pak - 250ml & Canned - 330ml Pétillante) after discovering that the product is unregistered and poses potential health risks.

The affected alcoholic beverage, which has been found on the Ghanaian market and advertised on social media, was imported and distributed in violation of Sections 97, 98, and 103 of the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851).

The FDA has expressed concern over the product's misleading packaging, which closely resembles non-alcoholic drinks and could result in accidental consumption by children, posing serious health risks. "The packaging and size of these products are deceptive and misleading, exposing children to potential accidental alcohol ingestion and posing danger to their health and safety," the FDA stated in a press release.

According to the Authority, the importer is not duly registered, making the sale and distribution of Grand Chateaux Sangria Forte unlawful.
