President John Dramani Mahama arrived in Sierra Leone on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, for a one-day working visit as part of his 'Good Neighbourliness Tour.' However, his decision to travel aboard a private jet owned by his brother, businessman Ibrahim Mahama, has sparked renewed criticism from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NPP argues that Mahama's reliance on his brother's aircraft raises concerns about accountability and transparency, questioning whether it aligns with his commitment to prudent public resource management.

The opposition has long accused Mahama of blurring the lines between personal and state affairs, and his latest travel choice has only fueled the debate.

In response, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President's spokesperson, defended the move, clarifying that no taxpayer funds were used.
