Former Dome Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has opened up about her controversial decision to abstain from voting on the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) in 2022, stating emphatically that she has no regrets.
Speaking on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM on Tuesday, March 18, the former Gender Minister explained that she made the decision based on her belief that the E-Levy would not benefit Ghanaians but rather impose economic hardships. "I made that principled decision," she stated, emphasizing that she stood firm in her convictions.
Adwoa Safo disclosed that her choice was largely influenced by consultations with her constituents, particularly church members in Dome Kwabenya, who voiced concerns about how the levy would negatively impact their livelihoods.
She admitted that the decision was a difficult one, as she found herself torn between her loyalty to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and her responsibility to the people she represented.
