Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications and Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has dismissed claims about the government's budget allocation and staffing numbers at the Office of the President.
Speaking on State of Affairs with Joshua Kodjo Mensah, he explained the increase in expenditure, particularly in relation to National Security. "If in the past, 1,200 people were costing you GHS 326 million, it stands to reason that if this number has increased to 11,657, the cost will rise.
In fact, the 2024 budget allocated GHS 1.28 billion to National Security alone for compensation," he noted.
Kwakye Ofosu went further to allege that some of the funds allocated to National Security were misused for political propaganda rather than operational purposes. "That money was used to pay communicators who were not government officials.
