Star Ghana Foundation is to establish a disaster fund to be known as Northern Ghana Flood Fund to provide critical support to communities affected by unexpected disasters in the north.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, disclosed this in Tamale yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on Northern Regional Minister, Mr Ali Adolf John Nburidiba, to brief him on some of the activities of the foundation in the region and also to congratulate him on his appointment as northern regional minister.
He said last year for instance was a year that farmers in the northern region experienced a huge devastating drought that negatively affected them. "We will continue to collaborate to support and work closely with the five Regional Coordinating Councils of Northern Ghana to facilitate the Northern Ghana High-Level Dialogue on Peace and Security," Alhaji Amidu stated.
He said their initiatives would continue to enhance coordination between state and non-state actors to promote peace and development in the region.
