Government's spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has stated that the previous government nearly collapsed the District Assemblies in Ghana.

According to him, the government created agencies that were doing the same work as the various district assemblies and allocated funding to them while the district assemblies were struggling.

This decision, he said, almost collapsed the district assemblies in the country because they did not have a dime in their coffers.

Additionally, he said it put a serious toll on members of Parliament who had to sponsor virtually everything that their assemblies had to do.
