Leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ayikoi Otoo, has defended the removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare, suggesting that the overwhelming reaction from officers within the police service was proof that his leadership was not well received internally. "I don't regret anything… But if the whole group, everybody is happy that you have been removed, do you think you served them well?" he questioned.
Speaking in an interview on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Otoo argued that while Dampare's leadership may have been seen in a positive light by the public, the sentiment within the service was quite different. "There was talk about him improving the image of the police, but those are optics.
As to whether that improved service conditions and the welfare of officers is another matter altogether," he stated.
Otoo maintained that the excitement surrounding Dampare's removal was a clear indication that officers were dissatisfied with his tenure. # Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Related Topics:Feature Advertisement You may like Amin Adam rejects Mahama's claims of economic mismanagement Agbana slams opposition for misleading statistics We are running a lean and efficient government - Agbana 2025 Budget offers hope and discipline-Agbana Military officer killed in Bawku after gunmen attack Vormawor loses PhD funding over treason case Massive shake-up hits Ghana Armed Forces People can attack us and escape - Bagbin demands better security for MPs Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang advances plans for Women's Development bank Click to comment Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
