Miss Ghana 2020, Monique Mawulawe Agbedekpui, has disclosed that she never enjoyed many of the financial and material benefits that traditionally come with winning the prestigious pageant.
According to her, she was crowned during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when most companies were struggling, which affected sponsorships and prize allocations.
As a result, she did not receive certain rewards, such as a car and cash prizes, that previous winners enjoyed. "I won during the COVID season, so winning the crown actually didn't come with a lot of things it had to come with," Monique explained on The Frankly Speaking Podcast.Despite these setbacks, the beauty queen acknowledged that the title itself opened doors for her, helping her build connections and gain influence for her projects. "It came with a title, which helped me and got me influence through people I needed and all that.
But it didn't come with the physical things like the car, cash prizes, and other goodies," she added.
