President has charged the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to not only focus on fighting crimes, but work towards improving public confidence and trust in the service.

He noted that leadership is not just about authority, but also service that will earn the respect of the people, while upholding a high standard of professionalism. "You won't be measured not just by crimes and statistics, but also by trust and confidence in the service.

We trust in your ability to build and uphold justice, respect and human dignity and maintain peace across the country," he said.

Mahama gave the charge to the IGP when he delivered a speech at his official swearing-in, which took place at the Jubilee House, on Friday, March 14, with senior government officials and top security personnel in attendance.
