Renowned investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has defended President John Mahama's decision to appoint COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), replacing Dr.
George Akuffo Dampare.
In a statement, Manasseh argued that a sitting president must have the freedom to choose security leaders he trusts.
He dismissed calls by some, including policy think tank IMANI Africa, to retain Dampare, stating that security appointments should not be dictated by public sentiment or partisan influence. "In security matters at the highest level, a lot goes into choosing the head.
