President John Dramani Mahama has called on the newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to enhance the welfare of police officers in Ghana.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on Friday, President Mahama stressed the demanding nature of policing and the need for adequate support for officers. "I want to emphasise the importance of improving the welfare of officers under your command," he stated.
He acknowledged the sacrifices and dedication required in the profession, emphasizing that officers must receive fair remuneration, proper housing, and access to quality healthcare and psychological support. "Policing is a very demanding profession that demands sacrifice and dedication.
Our officers must be well remunerated, adequately housed, and given access to proper healthcare and psychological support," he added.
