IMANI Ghana and security expert Professor Kwesi Aning have filed a suit at the Supreme Court to prevent President from removing the Inspector General of Police, Dr.
George Akuffo Dampare, and other heads of security agencies ahead of a pending ruling set for May 2025.
In their suit, they argue that removing the security heads before the court's decision would be unfair.
The plaintiffs have petitioned the court to issue an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants, including President and the respective councils of the Ghana Immigration Service, , National Fire Service, and Ghana Prisons Service, from removing, terminating, dismissing, sacking, suspending, or otherwise interfering with the positions of the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, the Comptroller of the Ghana Immigration Service, the Director-General of the National Fire Service, and the Inspector-General of Police.
