IMANI Africa and security expert Professor Kwesi Aning have filed an injunction at the Supreme Court to prevent President John Dramani Mahama from dismissing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr.

George Akuffo Dampare and other top security officials.

The injunction challenges the President's authority to terminate the appointments of key public officers without evidence of misconduct.

The plaintiffs argue that the removal of the IGP and other heads of uniformed security services should only occur in cases of proven misconduct or incapacity.
