A joint Rapid Response Team from the Tarkwa and Takoradi Forest Districts stormed the Subri Forest Reserve in a daring operation leading to the arrest of eight illegal miners and the retrieval of seven motorcycles and three tricycles.

All equipment found within the reserve were set ablaze.

The arrested suspects have since been handed over to the Takoradi Regional Police Command for further investigations.

The operation carried out yesterday and led by Regional Forestry Manager, Nana Poku Bosompim, is part of an effort to dissuade illicit mining activities in the Subri Forest Reserve.
