A former Minister of Finance, Dr Stephen Amoah, has added his voice to calls for the National Cathedral project to be investigated.

In a social media update posted by JoyNews on Thursday, March 13, 2025, he acknowledged that while he has no objections with regards to the National Cathedral project, he shares the views of the individuals questioning the overall project and its financial implications. "Even though I am NPP, monies for the National Cathedral must be investigated," he stated in the post.

The project was initiated by former President to serve as an interdenominational place of worship.

However, its execution was fraught with public uproars, raising questions about planning, governance, financing, and stakeholder engagement considerations, as critics argued that funds for the project could have been used to address pressing social and economic issues such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development.
