Africa World Airlines (AWA) has confirmed that Flight AW255, traveling from Abuja, Nigeria, made an unscheduled landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on March 12, 2025, due to a medical emergency involving a Ghanaian passenger.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, learned that a passenger suffered a medical crisis just 20 minutes after takeoff at 1:00 PM Abuja time.
However, despite efforts to save him, the passenger was reported to have passed away.
Providing further updates on the matter, AWA, in a statement issued on March 13, 2025, noted that upon detecting the situation, its well-trained crew swiftly activated emergency protocols and coordinated with aviation authorities to facilitate a priority landing in Lagos.
