The (EC) has moved to reassure the public that the integrity of the 2024 elections remains intact despite the theft of a Biometric Verification Device (BVD). This comes after the arrest of a man in Nsawam on Friday, August 23, 2024, who was found in possession of a BVD suspected to belong to the EC. The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Samuel Yaw Koranteng, who claims to reside in Tudu, Accra, was apprehended by residents of Nsawam and subsequently handed over to the police. Koranteng reportedly claimed that the BVD, with serial number VVD49976, was given to him by one Farouk Mahama. The EC, however, has assured the public that the stolen BVD cannot compromise the upcoming 2024 elections.
