The Asankragwa Magistrate Court in the Western Region has directed the Ghana Police Service to release GH¢37,000 paid by Daniel Baidoo as compensation to Citi FM and Channel One TV's Western Regional Correspondent, Akwasi Agyei Annim, for damages to his equipment.
Baidoo, who is allegedly linked to the family that sold the Adomanya land to illegal miners, is accused of leading a violent attack on Annim and two other journalists on February 12, 2025.
The journalists, accompanied by police officers, were filming in the area when they were assaulted, and their cameras, laptops, and phones were destroyed.
During its last sitting on March 5, 2025, the court ruled that Baidoo must cover the cost of the damages, valued at GH¢37,000.
