The Coalition of NPP Youth Groups in the Nanton Constituency has locked up the party's office in protest against the recent suspension of some constituency executives and members.
The group has petitioned the regional and national leadership of the party, demanding an immediate reversal of the suspensions. "As loyal members of the NPP, we believe this decision is not only unfair but also detrimental to the unity and progress of the party.
We therefore appeal to your high office to take immediate steps to revoke the suspension," the petition stated.
Addressing the press, Ibrahim Abdul Fatawu, convener of the Coalition of NPP Youth Groups, stressed the need for rebuilding rather than division within the party. "The NPP lost both the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Nanton Constituency.
