The Ghana Health Service has made strides towards reducing the rate of cholera infections in the Effutu Municipality.

Compared to a few weeks back when "19 new infection cases could be recorded on a daily basis" the municipality "recorded no new infections" last week but only dealt with "two suspected infections from outside the municipality"- said Paulette Brown, Director of Health Services for the Effutu Municipality.

This feat, according to the Health Service, has been attained through an immunization program which was gladly embraced by the people and continued advocacy for keeping high standards of hygiene and sanitation. "This shows how potent the vaccine is.

We have also not relented on our awareness and advocacy campaigns because the vaccine provides protection for three months.
