The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, has stated that attempts to distort political history through threats and tribal bigotry regarding the late statesman JB Danquah will not succeed.
According to the MP, who also serves as the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, JB Danquah was not only a traitor but also supported the vote against the "Motion of Destiny." In a Facebook post on March 9, 2025, he wrote, "The attempt to bury the true political history of this country in a grave paved over by threats and tribal bigotry will not sell.
JB Danquah was not only a traitor; he also supported the vote against the 'Motion of Destiny.'" A Daily Guide report from March 5, 2018, highlights the significance of the Motion of Destiny in Ghana's journey to independence.
According to the report, this was a motion presented by the late Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first president in the Legislative Assembly to exert more pressure on the then-British government.
