A former deputy director of communications at the office of former First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo, Akosua Manu, has defended the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) handling of the economy, arguing that external factors significantly contributed to Ghana's economic challenges.

She rejected claims that the country's economic difficulties were solely due to mismanagement by the Akufo-Addo-led administration. "The reality is that external shocks played a major role in what we are facing today.

To blame everything on the government without considering global factors is unfair," she stated.

Manu emphasized that despite the economic downturn, the government took decisive steps to cushion Ghanaians, implementing policies to stabilize key sectors.
