A youth group in the Kassena-Nankana District of the Upper East Region has petitioned the National Vetting Committee of the (NDC) over the exclusion of the only female aspirant from the final list of nominees for the District Chief Executive (DCE) position.
In a petition sighted by on Monday, March 10, 2025, the group criticised the vetting committee for disregarding the principles of gender equity, despite the party's commitment to gender empowerment and inclusivity. "As the only woman among eleven men from various communities in the district, she represents not only gender diversity but also the values of inclusion, empowerment, and leadership within the NDC.
The final selection process, however, overlooked the crucial representation of women in governance, despite the party's commitment to affirmative action and gender balance.
