President John Dramani Mahama has been commended for assigning the Minister for Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, additional responsibilities as the Acting National Security Minister.

A member of the communication team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kofi Tonto who commended the President for this action said that it is a good start. "It is nice seeing that President Mahama has taken the advice of Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu and has brought our various security agencies under a Ministry. "I would have preferred a different person to handle the National Security Ministry to bring the required focus.

Nevertheless, it's a good start," he wrote on Facebook.

President Mahama's decision, made in accordance with Section 24 of the Securities and Intelligence Act 2020 (Act 1030), was formally communicated to Parliament by Speaker Alban Bagbin during proceedings on Friday, March 7, 2025.
