The Chief Imam of Bole, Alhaji Mohammed Iddrisu, has officially banned extravagant weddings in the Bole Traditional Area, citing concerns over rising costs and deviations from Islamic traditions.

In a statement issued on March 5, 2025, the Chief Imam explained that the decision followed consultations with Islamic clergy and was aimed at curbing excessive spending that makes it difficult for many young people to get married.

The directive prohibits several modern wedding trends that do not conform to Islamic principles, including: Lavish wedding receptions, particularly those involving multiple outfit changes by couples.

Male beauticians dressing the opposite sex, which the Imam sees as inappropriate in the context of Islamic customs.
